Arthur Machinery teams up for a win at PRI 2006 Arthur Machinery teamed up with co-sponsor Delcam at the 2006 Performance Racing Industry (PRI) show on December 14-16 at the Orlando Convention Center to showcase their combined capabilities as a single-source supplier for performance-oriented companies in the automotive aftermarket. With the AMI / Delcam sponsored SilverHorse Racing Mustang in the oversized peninsula booth wearing all their new products that are available, the total solution package was a hit in Machinery Row – the area of the 1,000,000+ square-foot show that is dedicated to machining and manufacturing solutions. In the Arthur side of the booth, a Hermle 5-axis machining center was under power and on display, running either a 5-axis port replication job, or alternatively running a turbine impeller to highlight what true 5-axis machining is capable of in a production environment. Unlike other machines that are “built-up” from a basic 3-axis model and then have a rotary and trunnion attached, the Hermle approach is to start with a built-in trunnion and rotary combination, and then move the head as required while the trunnion swings like a pendulum in the casting. They have models that range all the way up to 3,000 lbs. of table load capacity, all while maintaining extremely high accuracy and speed in a compact footprint. Also in the Arthur booth, the NWL laser made a return appearance to the show for a second year in a row. The NWL YAG laser is capable of engraving parts at a very high speed from almost any file type, and the Arthur hostesses were busy personalizing show attendees test pieces and personal items throughout the show. In the Delcam side of the booth, the SilverHorse Racing race simulator was being operated throughout the show by SHR team members, while driver and team owner Marcello Canitano was available to answer questions about both sponsors’ products as well as how the sponsors work hand-in-hand with SHR to develop manufacturing solutions to insure the highest-quality aftermarket products for the new Ford Mustang. Delcam representatives were available throughout the show to demonstrate the different software titles they have to solve tough machining needs of the automotive industry, and demos were available to show just how easy machining can be with the proper technology applied to it. In all, it was a great event, and the second time in two years that Arthur Machinery and Delcam have been at the event, which moved from Indianapolis in 2005 for the milder winter weather that is offered by Orlando in December. |
